Citizens of central Kosovo on the abolition of the dinar: They are forcing us to leave
Citizens of central Kosovo are outraged by the enactment of a regulation by the Kosovo Central Bank that prohibits the use of the dinar and they argue that this is about the forced eviction of the Serbs and the expulsion of Serbian institutions.
Jovica Lazic emphasizes that the authorities in Pristina are attempting to force the Serbs to leave through the decisions they make.
"How can we prepare if they don't allow us to withdraw our pensions and salaries? The only option left for us is to leave. This decision is a forced eviction. It compels us to leave. It won't be just me; my entire family will leave. There are six of us, and four of us receive dinars. But not only us, many of us will leave," Lazic said.
Dragan Stolic emphasizes that Pristina's intention is clear.
"The Kosovo Government wants to expel the last Serbian institution from Kosovo and Metohija, and that is the basis of all decisions made by the Kosovo Government. We understand it very well, but it seems that those who are negotiating do not want to explain it to the people," said Stolic.
Stanka Smiljic is concerned for her children because, as she says, the elderly have already become accustomed.
"I have already prepared myself a long time ago. Just by living here, I know that everything is slowly disappearing. They are gradually taking everything from the Serbs. I am old, a pensioner, but for the young, I have a son, there is no perspective. I am going to Pristina, and I worry about how I will manage, I have no one to talk to. But it is how it is," Stanka Smiljic said.
