Committee for Kosovo and Metohija: Pristina creates impossible living conditions for Serbs in Kosovo through daily violence

The Committee for Kosovo and Metohija of the National Assembly of Serbia has assessed that the current security situation in Kosovo is extremely unstable and tense, especially in the context of the position of the Serbian and other non-Albanian populations. They highlighted that this situation is a result of the continuous escalatory actions by Pristina and Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, who are deliberately carrying out daily institutional, physical, and psychological violence, destabilizing the situation and creating impossible living conditions for Serbs in those areas.

At today’s closed-door session, the Committee for Kosovo and Metohija of the National Assembly of Serbia reviewed information on the current security situation in Kosovo, from the perspective of threats to the security of the Serbian people. The information was provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Security Information Agency, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, and the Office for Coordination in the Negotiation Process with the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government in Pristina, according to a statement from the Serbian Parliament.

"The Committee calls on the international community, particularly those countries with undeniable influence on the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government (PIS), to vigorously and urgently stop Pristina from continuing its systematic, comprehensive, and widespread violence against the Serbian people. The PIS must immediately implement the provisions of the signed agreements within the Dialogue and establish the Community of Serb Municipalities," the statement reads.

The Committee expresses full support for the Serbian people and their political representatives—the Serb List in Kosovo—to peacefully and democratically fight for their human rights, safety, and survival.

Additionally, the Committee supports the continuation of Belgrade's constructive approach, which, in their assessment, is fulfilling its obligations in the dialogue and is clearly committed to the path of normalizing relations.

"The Committee welcomes and fully supports the legal and socio-economic package of measures that the Government of the Republic of Serbia, at the initiative of the President, adopted to protect the rights of Serbs and the vital state and national interests in the territory of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija. In this regard, there is particular expectation that the special prosecution office, which will be established to implement these measures, will efficiently prosecute all those who order, incite, assist, and carry out criminal acts against the citizens of Serbia in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, as conducted by the regime in Pristina, led by Albin Kurti," it emphasizes.

The Committee expresses full support for the Serbian negotiating team.

It condemns the unilateral actions of the Pristina authorities, which represent an obvious blow to the dialogue, and notes that Pristina has not yet faced any consequences from the international community for these actions.
