Dacic and Theophylactou: Gratitude to Cyprus for its principled stance on Kosovo

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic, received Ambassador Demetrios Theophylactou of the Republic of Cyprus today in a farewell visit, and on this occasion, he expressed gratitude for the country's continuous support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia and expressed hope that Cyprus would maintain its stance of non-recognition of Kosovo, both bilaterally and in international organizations.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dacic expressed gratitude to Theophylactou for his personal contribution to intensifying the political dialogue and cooperation between Serbia and Cyprus, considering that significant contacts between high officials of the two countries were realized during his tenure and overall cooperation was elevated to an even higher level.

"In the discussion, it was noted that the relations between the two countries are substantive, of high quality, and constantly improving. Mutual readiness for further strengthening of dialogue, exchange of visits at all levels, and further intensive interconnection of the two countries through enhancing cooperation in numerous areas, especially on the economic front, was confirmed," the statement said.

Theophylactou assessed that the special quality of the relationship between Serbia and Cyprus is derived from the fact that Serbs and Cypriots have always been together, supporting each other in good and bad times.

He mentioned that he carries very fond memories from Serbia, expressing gratitude for exceptional understanding and cooperation from the state leadership, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other state institutions of the Republic of Serbia.

Dacic wished Theophylactou much success in his professional and personal endeavors, stating that he can always count on the friendship of Serbia and the Serbian people.
