Dacic: We will do everything for peace, but we do not agree to tricks like withdrawing 25 percent of the police from municipalities in the north

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic, said tonight that the withdrawal of 25 percent of the special police from the municipalities in the north of Kosovo looked like a mockery, given that those forces should not even be stationed in the north, without the permission of KFOR and the Serbs, stating that Serbia is for peace and will do everything to preserve it, but not to agree to such tricks.

"It's like when, for example, we didn't have a permit, and our army and police went to Kosovo and then we say - we will cooperate, we will withdraw 25 percent... Albin Kurti has no right, it is contrary to international agreements, and he sent the police to the north without the permission of KFOR and the consent of the Serbian municipalities. He had no right and now we should be satisfied that he will withdraw 25 percent? The international community is also happy that de-escalation has begun. Don't make fun of us," Dacic said for Tanjug.

This, he says, is a mockery of the entire international community, which shows that they have no serious intention of influencing Kurti.

"We should give great credit to the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija who stoically bear the terror that is perpetrated against them, in conditions where we do not have the army and the police there. The peaceful resistance of the unarmed people hurts them the most, as well as the unity of the Serbian people," said Dacic.

They are also hurt, he says, by the fact that only 13 Serbs took part in the elections, which is why, he says, it is important to maintain that unity.

"For our fight to continue, for all further steps to be coordinated with President Vucic. We continue our policy, we do not recognize the so-called Kosovo, we are for peace, but we do not accept tricks and smearing our eyes as a way of pulling 25 percent of the police," said Dacic.

He reminded that according to Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council, Kosovo has no basis at all for the formation of armed forces outside KFOR.

"But all that passes..." remarked Dacic.

He added that it was important that there was strong national unity, regardless of political parties, which, he added, was unfortunately not the case, because there are parties that would accept the independence of Kosovo.

"And, when you ask them about the solution to the Kosovo issue, they say that it is reconciliation and the process of democratization... What does that mean? That's what they said on October 5, 2000 if only Milosevic fell, then Kosovo would be solved... And what happened? They (Pristina) went even further into extremism and declared the independence of Kosovo," Dacic said.
