Dhuli: Kurti's game is wrong; Kosovo's exclusion from CEFTA possible

Political analyst from Tirana, Skerdjan Dhuli, says that Kosovo is suffering significant economic consequences due to Albin Kurti's poor policies and told Kosovo Online that one possible outcome could be Kosovo's exclusion from CEFTA.

“Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, is in constant conflict with all members of the international community. I consider his approach to be entirely wrong because that is what it is. This conflict, whether with the Americans or with European diplomacy, shows great irresponsibility on Kurti's part, and this comes at a very high cost for Kosovo. During nearly four years of his government, there has been a drastic reduction in foreign investment in Kosovo, which means that the international factor affects not only the political side but that conflict with it also has economic consequences,” the analyst from Tirana said.

He believes that Kurti’s exclusion from CEFTA is not out of the question.

“I am inclined to believe that this could happen at this moment, or perhaps Kurti will receive a final warning. However, I am certain that he will continue to follow his very left-wing, highly propagandistic agenda. Given the parliamentary elections in February next year, he will continue to take other steps in that direction. I believe that Kosovo has no political, economic future or security if it does not coordinate its actions with the international community, with those who are truly the 'parents' of Kosovo,” he said.

Dhuli adds that Serbia has benefited more from the Berlin Process, even though it was meant to benefit Kosovo.

“Today, Serbia presents itself as the victim, and this is the result of Albin Kurti’s conflict with the West, which I point out is unacceptable and entirely harmful to Kosovo. Undoubtedly, Serbia has gained more from the Berlin Process, even though Kosovo was supposed to benefit more,” Dhuli said.

He is convinced that Kosovo will continue to have ongoing conflicts with the international community until the last day of Kurti’s government, especially if Donald Trump wins the US presidential election.

“I think that Trump’s victory would be the final break between Kurti’s government and international partners. If Trump’s victory is combined with an electoral win for Kurti, which I do not wish to happen at this moment, and this is not just a personal desire, I believe the consequences will be even more serious. I think Kosovo is currently in the ‘antechamber of hell,’ considering what awaits if Trump wins in the US,” the analyst from Tirana concluded.
