Marko Dasic, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, says for Kosovo Online that the Berlin Process could serve as a good diplomatic event for easing tensions in the region, but he does not believe it will bring any significant diplomatic outcomes.

Dasic points out that everyone is aware of the problems in regional economic multilateral organizations and reminds that there are “even smart sanctions against Albin Kurti,” which are currently at the diplomatic level in the form of stronger language in official statements.

Commenting on the blockade of CEFTA due to the negative policies pursued by Pristina, he notes that he is unsure of the outcome.

“I think this is part of a process. I believe there are negotiations and talks on the sidelines through intermediaries, those background channels, so to speak, but all of this is in the realm of speculation and does not allow us to make proper analytical conclusions,” he says.

Regarding the upcoming meeting of Western Balkan leaders, he states that it could “ease tensions,” but he does not expect any significant diplomatic outcomes.

“The Berlin Process is indeed a platform on which there is consensus among all regional countries, unlike some, as they are called, competitive initiatives like the Open Balkan. Therefore, the Berlin Process truly could be a good diplomatic event for easing tensions, but it is far from bringing us any significant diplomatic outcomes,” Dasic concludes.
