Djuric with Beck: Serbian cultural and religious heritage in Kosovo and Metohija under constant endangerment; raising global awareness of vital importance
Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met with American entrepreneur Elaine Beck, with whom he had, as he stated, an inspiring and meaningful conversation about the enduring significance of the rich Serbian cultural and Orthodox Christian legacy in Kosovo and Metohija.
Djuric warned on the platform X that for decades we have been witnessing the continued endangerment of these spiritual and historical landmarks of the Serbian people.
He recalled that the UNESCO World Heritage Committee has placed three Serbian monasteries – the Patriarchate of Pec, Decani Monastery, and Gracanica Monastery, as well as the Church of the Virgin of Ljevis – on the list of endangered heritage sites.
“Raising global awareness about the urgency of preserving these sacred sites – treasures not only of Serbian heritage but of universal human value – is of vital importance. Their protection is a shared responsibility and moral imperative for all who cherish civilization and peace,” Djuric emphasized.
American entrepreneur and motivational speaker Elaine Beck from Arizona, along with her associates from Proverbs Media Group and Serbian-American citizen Ranko Ristic, visited Serbian churches and monasteries and met with local Serbs in Kosovo prior to their arrival in Belgrade.
Beck said the visit deeply moved her, especially the encounters with displaced persons and the destruction she witnessed, emphasizing that the Serbs have lost their identity and homes, but also demonstrate strength through faith, prayer, and solidarity.
She stressed that monasteries are the only safe places for Christians in Kosovo and called for prayer and hope for a better future. She believes the Serbian people deserve more and hopes that the international community will help improve the situation.
