Djuric meets Madrahimov: Uzbekistan continues its consistent support for Serbia's territorial integrity

Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met today with Muzaffarbek Madrahimov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, thanking him for his country's principled and consistent support for the preservation of Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stressing that Belgrade highly values such an approach from a friendly nation.

Djuric assessed that relations between Serbia and Uzbekistan have been following a strong upward trajectory, thanks to intensive political dialogue and the historic visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to Uzbekistan last year, during which 12 bilateral agreements were signed.

He also recalled the successful visit of a delegation from Serbia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Tashkent earlier this year, noting that it had played an important role in further intensifying overall bilateral relations.

Djuric expressed satisfaction that Uzbekistan will be represented at the commemorative event marking the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade, as well as at Expo 2027.

Speaking about economic cooperation, Djuric emphasized that there is considerable potential for its further expansion and welcomed the agreement to hold the first session of the Joint Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation this year in Belgrade.

He particularly highlighted the importance of the planned opening of the Embassy of Serbia in Tashkent and the establishment of a direct Belgrade–Tashkent air route, assessing that both initiatives would further strengthen ties between the two countries and their economies.

"Serbia regards Uzbekistan as one of its key partners in Central Asia," Djuric said.

He expressed confidence that the continuation of regular political consultations, the strengthening of economic and parliamentary cooperation, and the implementation of agreed joint projects would contribute to the further deepening of friendly relations and the development of a strategic partnership between the two countries.
