Djuric pointed out to Pierce the institutional violence faced by the Serbian population in Kosovo
Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met today with the United Kingdom’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Karen Pierce, whom he informed about the destabilization of the situation and the institutional violence that the Serbian population in Kosovo faces on a daily basis.
Improving regional cooperation was also among the topics of discussion with Pierce.
The Serbian foreign minister expressed gratitude for the importance that the United Kingdom attaches to the Western Balkans and Serbia, as well as for the personal engagement of the envoy.
“He emphasized that Serbia remains strongly committed to strengthening international and regional relations, as they, in his assessment, directly contribute to peace, stability and prosperity of the entire region,” the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
Djuric also recalled a concrete example of a solidarity initiative during the evacuation of Serbian and regional citizens from war-affected areas of the Middle East, noting that these activities demonstrated Serbia’s ability and readiness, in cooperation with partners, to contribute to the security and stability of the wider Western Balkans area.
Referring to European integration, he expressed gratitude for the support that the United Kingdom provides on that path, emphasizing that regional initiatives represent an important driver of Serbia’s progress.
He particularly welcomed the United Kingdom’s engagement within the Berlin Process, highlighting the importance of this platform for strengthening interregional coordination. Djuric stressed that Serbia attaches special importance to this initiative, which, through concrete projects and measures, contributes to development, strengthens trust among countries in the region and encourages the process of reconciliation in the Western Balkans.
