Macut with Pierce: Dialogue is a key mechanism for resolving open issues
Serbian Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Djuro Macut said today in a meeting with the United Kingdom’s Special Envoy Karen Pierce that dialogue is a key mechanism for resolving open issues, and that Serbia will continue to act responsibly and in accordance with international law. Pierce pointed to the importance of preserving regional stability, as well as continuing the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
Macut and Pierce discussed current political and economic topics, as well as further strengthening bilateral relations between Serbia and the United Kingdom.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Serbia attaches great importance to cooperation with the United Kingdom and is committed to improving relations in the fields of science, education, healthcare, culture, energy, trade and digital transformation. He added that there is potential for further economic cooperation and the encouragement of new investment projects.
Speaking about regional cooperation, the Prime Minister said that Serbia remains a reliable and responsible partner, committed to preserving peace and stability, and added that Serbia contributes to strengthening trust through initiatives aimed at economic connectivity, infrastructure development and the free movement of people, goods, services and capital in the region.
He added that through a constructive approach and participation in regional initiatives, Serbia contributes to creating a predictable and stable environment, which is of particular importance for attracting investment and overall economic development.
Macut also stressed that dialogue is a key mechanism for resolving open issues and that Serbia will continue to act responsibly and in accordance with international law.
He expressed gratitude for the cooperation and support provided so far by the United Kingdom and reiterated the initiative for a more liberal visa regime for Serbian citizens, which would facilitate mobility and strengthen business and academic ties.
Special Envoy Karen Pierce emphasized that the United Kingdom remains a reliable partner to Serbia, providing support for reform processes, economic development and strengthening the rule of law. She highlighted the importance of preserving regional stability and continuing the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
The interlocutors agreed that strengthening institutional cooperation and regular political dialogue are of key importance for the stability and prosperity of the region, and that maintaining regular contacts at all levels is important for improving relations between Serbia and the United Kingdom.
The meeting was also attended by the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Serbia, Edward Ferguson.
