Djuric with Tuvalu's Foreign Minister: Serbia is developing long-term relations with the Pacific

On the sidelines of the 53rd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in the Kingdom of Tonga, Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met with Tuvalu's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Labor, and Trade, Paulson Panapa.

"Serbia is developing long-term relations with the Pacific because of the shared values we have with countries like Tuvalu, which may be geographically distant but are equally committed to being politically independent, economically significant, and mutually connected," Djuric said.

In this context, he emphasized the importance of more intensive political dialogue as well as joint efforts on programs and projects that bring tangible benefits to citizens, both bilaterally and multilaterally.

In addition to extending an invitation for an upcoming visit to Serbia, Minister Djuric conveyed to his counterpart that Serbia, as the host, would greatly appreciate Tuvalu's participation in the Pacific Pavilion, which will be specially prepared for the island nations of this region at the upcoming specialized EXPO 2027 in Belgrade.

In discussing potential areas for future cooperation, Djuric highlighted not only the economy but also the possibility of providing support to Tuvalu in digital transformation, particularly in the field of e-governance.
