In his address at the UN General Assembly, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic exposed the uncomfortable truth that those who claimed to be the greatest advocates of international law had not respected it in the case of Serbia, and he highlighted the truth about the suffering and difficult position of the Serbian people in Kosovo, Serbia's Foreign Minister Marko Djuric stated.

"President Vucic today at the UN exposed an uncomfortable truth, which is that in a world where everyone claims to respect international law, there is one example of a country where some of those who claim to be the greatest advocates of international law did not respect it in the case of Serbia," he emphasized.

He pointed out that for Serbia's positioning, it is crucial – demonstrated not only by the president’s speech but also through dozens of meetings that the head of state and he had with representatives from countries around the world – that for Serbia, the UN Charter is sacred, that international law is sacred, and that Serbia is autonomous, fully independent, and that the political decision-making center depends solely on the citizens of Serbia.

"For this reason, the words spoken before the UN General Assembly may be considered brave by many. They undoubtedly are, but they also position Serbia among the countries that are subjects of international relations, not merely objects. Not just an object that depends on the political decisions and movements of others, but one that follows its own interests and course," Djuric underscored.

He stressed that Serbia had gained additional respect at the UN General Assembly.

He reminded that he had delivered a speech before the Non-Aligned Movement, had held meetings with colleagues from Uzbekistan, Bhutan, and dozens of other countries, and that the delegation had a full agenda every day, working over 14 hours.

"This is an important week for Serbia because we seek our support in the UN. This week is more important for Serbia than for other countries. For us, Kosovo and Metohija, UNESCO, our heritage, and the fight for positive economic outcomes, such as EXPO, depend on the fact that we have the respect of a large number of small, medium, and large countries," he added.

As Djuric emphasized, the whole world has been shown that the key word for Serbia in international relations and its overall positioning is "principle."

"This has been a good week for Serbia, and much has been heard about the position of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. We exposed the unilateral and uncoordinated actions of Kurti's regime and showed why 28 countries have withdrawn recognition. Kurti's people are here in the city too, and Pacolli, who has become active again. They are lobbying hard and trying to make Serbia's position more difficult. But the Serbian delegation is also fighting. The citizens of Serbia can be satisfied in that regard as well. The truth about the suffering and difficult fate of our people was heard, and we are gaining support for a normal relationship because Serbia is a country of the future, a country extending a hand to all, boasting the best economic results in the broader region. Even in response to the ugly accusations made by Mr. Konakovic, we respond with dignity, not lowering ourselves to that level. We do not want to disgrace ourselves or others. We will continue in this manner tomorrow as well," Djuric emphasized.

He noted that the next day will start at 8 a.m. with the first bilateral meetings.

"I have bilateral meetings with a series of countries in the morning, an address at the G20 meeting, where we have been invited as a guest. Throughout the day, we have a large number of both individual and group meetings. The citizens of Serbia should know that at the UN and before the entire world, the president and the Serbian delegation are protecting our reputation," he concluded.
