Djuric on the Washington Conference: We are drawing global attention to the violation of human rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija

Organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the United States, a special conference dedicated to Kosovo and Metohija is taking place for the first time in Washington today, as stated in the Embassy of Serbia's press release.

The conference titled "Prayer for Peace, Stability, and Justice" represents an initiative by the embassy aimed at motivating the Serbian community in America to support the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, and it also aims to draw the attention of the American public and the Serbian diaspora in the United States to the concerning escalation of violence, political and police repression, and the violation of basic human rights that Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija face on a daily basis.

"For the first time in history, Serbia is organizing a conference on our most important national issue on American soil. This conference reflects the seriousness, dedication, and renewed determination of Serbia to make the Serbian voice heard in America, to present Serbia's positions, and to acquaint both the American and global public with the imminent danger of ethnic cleansing of Serbs from our ancestral homeland, as well as the daily struggle for survival and the existence of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija under the repressive regime of Albin Kurti. In carrying out this complex task, we enjoy the strong support of President Aleksandar Vucic and the entire team in the Government," Marko Djuric, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the US, stated.

In addition to Ambassador Djuric, who will open the conference, the main speakers will include Eastern American Bishop Irinej, Director of the Office for the Diaspora and Serbs in the region, Arnaud Gouillon, distinguished representative of our diaspora, Branko Terzic, as well as the well-known motivational speaker of Serbian descent, Nick Vujicic.

"The special guests of the conference are representatives of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija who will participate in special thematic panel discussions to address the real state of human rights, institutional issues, humanitarian matters, and the overall significance of preserving Serbian heritage, culture, and tradition in our southern province," the press release from the Embassy of Serbia in Washington concludes.
