Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric spoke today with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and head of UNMIK, Caroline Ziadeh, about the situation in Kosovo and the upcoming regular session of the UN Security Council on the work of UNMIK, which will be held on October 30.

Djuric emphasized that Serbia views UNMIK as a key factor in the international presence in Kosovo and supports its continued engagement in its current and undiminished capacity.

The Serbian Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of timely, adequate, and visible responses from the UN to numerous incidents, provocations, and unilateral actions by Pristina that violate UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and endanger the rights and security of Serbs and other non-Albanian populations.

The minister stated that Pristina openly rejects international calls to de-escalate the crisis in northern Kosovo and Metohija, where Serbs have been leaving in large numbers since June 2023.

Djuric noted that the upcoming UN Security Council session will be an opportunity to shed light on the severity of the current situation in Kosovo and the violation of Serbs' rights.
