Elek: Vucic's speech was historic, precisely pointed out everything Kurti was doing to our people in Kosovo
Zlatan Elek, President of the Serb List, states that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic bravely expressed views on the need to respect the rights of the Serbian people and the need to stop persecution at yesterday's UN Security Council session in New York. He tells Kosovo Online that to anyone who listened carefully to President Vucic last night, it was clear that this was a historic speech.
"The speech was extremely substantive and precise, with a multitude of details and facts that the president presented last night. He precisely pointed out everything Kurti does to our people in Kosovo and demanded the protection of our people. He bravely expressed views on the need to respect the rights of our people and the need to stop the persecution of the Serbian people," Elek says.
He adds that Vucic clearly stated the necessity of respecting international law, Resolution 1244, and the territorial integrity of Serbia.
"I am glad that all countries, especially the United States and France, and I also mean Russia and China, emphasized the importance and demanded the suspension of the decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo to abolish the dinar and payment transactions, condemned Pristina's actions, and demanded an end to the intrusion into the Provisional Institutions, an end to unilateral and uncoordinated actions. All of these actions do not lead to de-escalation, but the opposite. We saw that in the president's speech, every other or third word was the dialogue and the need for peace in these areas," he adds.
Elek emphasizes that there can be improvement and progress on the ground if the Quint countries, especially the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and France, seriously consider their statements.
