Garic: "Croatian model" is a threat to Serbs in Kosovo
The "Croatian model" for the Community of Serbian Municipalities, offered by Albin Kurti, is nothing more than an open threat from Pristina and a confirmation of the position that extreme Albanians do not think of building a normal coexistence with Serbs, but that they are only interested in Kosovo without Serbs. Milos Garic, the editor of the Kosovo online portal, said today on TV Pink.
"It is the continuation of the implementation of the plan of ethnic cleansing of the Serbs. They say that their role model is Croatia. Well, yes. They find a million ways to implement the plan for Kosovo without the Serbs. But the problem is that the Serbs do not agree, that the state of Serbia does not agree, and that it sticks to firm, hard and stubborn principles of the international order, which the West claims is still valid. That is why the Council of Europe, the European Union, Washington are in trouble. How to explain the events in the case of Serbia," says Garic.
He adds that the danger of conflict is growing day by day.
"This behavior of Kurti and the support he receives from the West cannot lead to a normal solution to the Kosovo story, we thought that no one had such a scenario in their heads, but the conflict is now hanging over everyone's heads and we must be fully aware of that. The Serbs in Kosovo are aware that and they live with it every day, kudos to their behavior, to their sobriety, calmness, that they have endured all this all these years, especially what has been happening for the past few months, which is now reaching the last stages of being able to endure such a life that Albin Kurti intended for the Serbs, which he serves them in various ways every day," warns Garic.
Kurti has no intention of building peace and happiness in Kosovo with the Serbs, don't let us fool ourselves about that anymore, Garic pointed out.
"Neither Kurti nor any of the current political champions in Kosovo have any intention of respecting the rights of the Serbs. I don't know at the moment which Albanian politician will change that political course, at least not in the short term. To turn that anti-Serb, and at the same time Greater Albanian policy towards some kind of peace, coexistence, and building some sort of decent relationship with the Serbs. As a sign of good to allow Serbs to live, to leave them alone, to stop the mistreatment. That's the start, and we'll get to the CSM slowly," Garic points out.
He adds that Albin Kurti is bothered by the Serbian harmony and firmness in Kosovo, that is why he is trying to destroy it in cooperation with external factors that are persistently pressuring Belgrade to give in its principled stance of defending international principles.
Garic says that Olaf Scholz is "knocking on an open door" when he says that he wants the Western Balkans to join the EU, that these messages have been said many times without effect.
"Who prevents the EU from including the entire Western Balkans? You know that good wishes are a good thing, and no one has anything against that. We here were in the mood to join the EU 20 years ago. Now, in 2023, Scholz is saying that they they have that desire, thank God. But you know how, it's like wishful thinking, and it's becoming more and more clear to us that we have to turn our heads to the other side to look for happiness somewhere else. That's how far we've come in those promises with the EU, and they're still saying the same thing," said Garic.
Garic thinks that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's announcement, that he will not go to the Council of Europe Summit in Reykjavik next week, if the resolution on the defense of the territorial sovereignty of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia is not supplemented by an amendment that it applies to all members of the Council of Europe, is a statesman's attitude.
"It is a logical, and from the point of view of the state approach, absolutely the only possible thing at this moment, for you to tell people what this is about. That some principles in international relations must be respected. Despite all the problems and pressures that are huge and terrifying , not to mention what is happening in our country these days and what is being misused outside as well," Garic concluded.
