Garic: Ethnically motivated attacks on Serbs in Kosovo will not be resolved, institutions are abused
Journalist Milos Garic does not expect cases of ethnically motivated attacks on Serbs in Kosovo to be resolved, since this has not happened for years, adding that the fact that such incidents are not included in the authorities in Pristina's official records is a clear sign of institutional abuse.
In Kosovo today, he notes, everything is “a lie, a forgery and manipulation.”
„This, too, is a clear sign of the abuse of institutions. The police, the judiciary, all the government bodies that should be doing their jobs are in the hands of Albin Kurti, serving his extremist, Greater Albanian, chauvinist policy. So why are we surprised? Of course, none of the cases of ethnically motivated attacks will be resolved. Just as they have not been resolved for years. They wrap all this in the cellophane of democracy and the rule of law, supposedly the best and most advanced in Europe. And they have the support of the German and British embassies in Pristina for this. They support the positions of the Albanians in Pristina who are in power“, Garic told Kosovo Online.
He says that Kosovo has an atmosphere of distorted reality and attempts to use manipulation and lies to present Kosovo as a democratic achievement of the highest standards.
„Such an attitude is to be expected from Kurti, but it must not be present among those who are responsible and sit in Western capitals. That is what is dangerous. From the side that should be reacting, we are seeing exactly the opposite. Albin Kurti's policy is being supported, a policy based on complete lies and a distortion of reality, the abuse of institutions and everything else we are witnessing in Kosovo and Metohija“, Garic said.
Asked what would be needed for the international community to respond more concretely to ethnically motivated incidents, Garic says that, apparently, they are waiting for some major tragedy.
„They are waiting for dramatic events like those of 2004 to occur, and only then will someone wake up, understand and realize what they have brought us to. Representatives of influential Western countries intervened in a similar way in Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq and Egypt. Tragic consequences remained after their departure from those places. Will something similar happen in Kosovo when they leave, when they decide that it is no longer worthwhile for them to invest in something that is a completely dysfunctional state? And what will happen then? That is what Albin Kurti and the Albanians should be thinking about“, Garic concluded.
