Gashi: The Special Prosecutor's Office could have summoned Kurti for questioning after elections

Lawyer Tome Gashi assessed that the Kosovo Special Prosecutor's Office could have chosen another date for questioning Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, which, as he pointed out, could have been after the elections on February 9.
Pristina media reported that Kurti received a third summons for questioning from the Kosovo Special Prosecutor's Office on December 30. Lawyer Tom Gashi told Kosovo Online that he could not say anything beyond what the Kosovo Prime Minister himself had stated.
"He said that the summons sent to him via the Office of the Prime Minister came at an inappropriate time because we have elections across the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo. I think the prosecutor's office could have found another date, after February 9. I also believe that Kurti stated that if the prosecutor deems the questioning urgent, they can come to the Office of the Prime Minister, and he will give his statement because he has been summoned in the capacity of a witness," Gashi said.
Kosovo Government Spokesperson Perparim Kryeziu stated, following the summons for questioning sent to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, that it was an attempt to influence the elections.
Kurti has been summoned to testify in a case related to the criminal offense of abuse of official position or authority, concerning the "case of commodity reserves."
The current Minister of Trade and Industry, Rozeta Hajdari, has already been questioned in this case.
