Haziri: By making statements about attacks from Serbia, Kurti and Osmani are trying to divert attention from other problems
The Vice-President of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lutfi Haziri, assessed in an interview with Dukagjini that the year 2023 was marked by the degradation of relations with the European Union and the United States of America, and regarding the frequent statements of the President and Prime Minister of Kosovo that attacks from Serbia are possible, he says that these are attempts to divert public attention from other problems that Kosovo is facing.
Haziri, regarding the recent statements of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti about possible attacks from Serbia, expressed concern over the fact that in Kosovo, which, as he says, experienced great dangers and tensions from Serbia in the past, there is now a lot of talk about the possibility of a new attacks.
He assessed that Osmani and Kurti's statements are part of an attempt to manipulate and divert the public's attention from other problems that Kosovo is facing.
"In an independent and sovereign state, accepted by the most civilized and democratic world, talking only about the war, at a time when the security authorities, the KSF and the Intelligence Agency of Kosovo are at their work, is manipulation and an attempt to divert the people's attention from other problems," he said.
He added, however, that there is always a reason for Serbia to try to destabilize Kosovo.
Speaking about the current problems and tensions with the countries of the region, he said that the cause of these tensions is the aspiration of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti to participate in elections in other countries.
"Continuous problems and tensions with countries in the region exist because of Mr. Kurti's aspirations to participate in the elections in Albania and North Macedonia, as well as because of the brutal interference in the elections held in Presevo, Bujanovac, and Medvedja," said Haziri.
He called for the rapid implementation of the agreement with Serbia, stressing that Kosovo's allies expect concrete actions from Prime Minister Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
"Mr. Kurti's community will be formed, from its great opponent to someone who is committed to this process. In the next year, our allies expect the implementation of the Kurti-Vucic agreement. We are waiting for the Government of Kosovo, since Vucic has started implementing the agreement on RKS license plates, which is the result of the 2013 and 2015 agreements," Haziri said.
He also expressed concern about the second package of punitive measures for Kosovo from the EU, emphasizing the failure of the Government to fulfill the obligation to draft the statute within a reasonable time.
"The government's inaction led to the draft of the statute being prepared by EU experts. It is called the European model for Kosovo and it is in the phase of comments from Kosovo and Serbia. Now it is said that the government and our prime minister did not even comment, and on the other hand, international partners expect this phase to end as soon as possible and for the process to move forward because the EU and the US do not have time. Kosovo is under punitive measures, and if this continues, a second package of punitive measures is expected," said Haziri.
