Professor of International Relations at the University of Pristina, Afrim Hoti, told Kosovo Online that the messages from the European Political Community Summit held in Tirana emphasized the necessity of peace and that the Western Balkans are at the top of the European Union’s agenda.
Hoti points out that the messages were mixed, but the focus was placed on the necessity of peace.
“The Western Balkans are at the top of the European Union’s agenda. That is because the Western Balkans are still not part of the EU, and therefore represent the right place to host the European Political Community Summit,” Hoti said.
He notes that Albania was chosen to host the Summit due to its neutrality, especially regarding relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
“Albania is progressing rapidly and is, among other things, becoming a reliable diplomatic center of the Western Balkans,” he emphasized.
