Ibishi: Removal of Cyrillic signs in northern Kosovo fuels new tensions
Security expert Nuredin Ibishi assessed that the removal of Cyrillic signs in northern Kosovo was irresponsible and that such actions fueled new tensions.
Ibishi believes that the international community should react to this issue in order to find a solution to the problem.
"We have signs in two languages throughout the territory of Kosovo, in Albanian and Serbian. There is no reason for them to be both in places where they are written in Albanian and remain in Serbian. I think this is done by irresponsible people," Ibishi emphasized for ABC News.
Speaking about relations with Kosovo's international partners, he assessed that only President Vjosa Osmani could contribute to improving those relations, considering that, as he says, unlike Prime Minister Albin Kurti, she advocates for cooperation.
"We must be very cautious in our relations with our strategic partners, especially with the United States, which are our main partners and contribute to the preservation of security not only in Kosovo but also in the Balkans and Europe," Ibishi concluded.
