Jevtic: For the Serbs in Kosovo, the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities is a matter of life

The Vice-President of the Serb List, Dalibor Jevtic, said this evening that the Serbs from Kosovo were carefully following everything that was happening in Brussels today and that they were sure that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, with the delegation from Belgrade, would, as always before, protect, above all, life and the survival of the Serbs in Kosovo, for which the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities was important.

"We know that today's meeting is not at all easy, but our faith is the result of everything we have experienced a decade ago, namely that everything that President Vucic did, in the end, gave results. All the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija are following everything that happens in Brussels and the results of the talks with attention," Jevtic said to TV Pink.

He said that the public had to understand how important the CSM was for the Serbs in Kosovo.

"No matter how much someone presents it as a political issue, for us it is not a political issue, but a life issue, because we are in a situation, since Albin Kurti has been in power, of the constant presence of special police units in Strpce, in the north of Kosovo and Metohija and in other areas. The temporary body was closed by a political decision, and people were detained without reason or evidence," Jevtic said.

This was exactly why the Serbs had to have an institution like the CSM so that through that Community they could protect lives, survival, education, healthcare, and take care of economic development, Jevtic said.

He assessed that it was shameful when the opposition in Belgrade spoke negatively about the CSM and when, he said, such tones were heard against what should enable the survival of the Serbs in Kosovo.

"With the Brussels agreement on the CSM, we preserved the peace. Vucic, by preserving peace, made it possible for Serbia to develop economically as a country, and surely, those who spoke badly about the Brussels Agreement will see that Vucic had a vision, knowledge, and understanding of the moment we are in and the circumstances in which we live, so he could, taking all that into account, made the best possible decision. That is why the Serbs trust Vucic the most," Jevtic said.
