Vucic: We agreed to talk further; I insisted on the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, reported this evening, after talks with EU representatives and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, that it had been agreed to continue the talks in the coming period and that the next meeting would be on March 18 in North Macedonia.
"We had the usual difficult meeting. We will continue in the coming period. I believe that there will be many more conversations in the next period. As I understand it, we should see each other on the territory of North Macedonia on March 18, when the High EU representative, Josep Borrell, will visit the region," Vucic told reporters.
Until then, he says, they should talk with the EU envoy for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, about matters related to implementation.
He said that it was important that the EU announcement if it happened, would mention the necessity of implementing all previous agreements.
"I insisted on CSM. I don't think Kurti was ready to accept that now. We will see if it will in the future. I hope that it is possible to reach some kind of compromise but I am afraid that we will remain stuck in something that was signed a long time ago and should have been implemented," he underlined.
Vucic expressed his belief that it would be possible to overcome unilateral moves that would endanger people on the ground, and that it would be possible to work on the implementation of previously reached agreements.
Kurti came with the idea to ask for something, but there was no word on it
Vucic pointed out that Albin Kurti had come to Brussels with the idea of signing something, but that it had not been discussed and such a thing had not been accepted.
"I am waiting to see the implementation plan of previously agreed obligations. We have to work on the road map, let's see what the implementation plan is. Firstly, what one does not want to fulfill must be fulfilled. It was agreed that we would continue to talk. How can we agree on anything, when the first thing is the CSM When they fulfill that, you move on," Vucic said.
When asked whether the Brussels Agreement or the Franco-German plan was being implemented, Vucic repeated that the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities was in the first place.
Asked if the CSM was part of the road map, he replied that there was no road map yet because it still needed to be worked on.
"As we started, we immediately stopped... Someone thought that in one day he would get a signature on I don't know what... It doesn't work like that. This is a serious, long, difficult, and tiring process," Vucic said and added that he would cancel all trips in order to prepare for March 18 and the talks in North Macedonia.
