Jovanovic on the meeting between Vucic and Kurti: I don't see the possibility of progress; the EU to exert pressure on Pristina

On the occasion of tomorrow's meeting in Brussels, the former head of diplomacy of FR Yugoslavia, Vladislav Jovanovic, stated that he sees no possibility of any progress in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina if the West does not radically change and respect the legitimate interests of Serbia.

"As long as the EU, and its overseeing ally the USA, is in its own way absent from the actual negotiation process, thus maintaining a kind of equidistance towards both parties, the prospects for real progress are practically non-existent. Because only one party, the Albanian from Pristina, is the one failing to fulfill its obligations and constantly makes the relations with Belgrade to constantly aggravating and complicated. It means that the EU, as the host and responsible party for the continuation of the negotiations, should act decisively in one direction, in the direction of Pristina, where the sources of all tensions and dangers for the existing peace and security lie," Jovanovic told Kosovo online.

As he stated, since the EU has not done this so far and is not announcing that it will do so, tomorrow's talks will be just one of the hallmarks of the same process from which Serbia is expected to capitulate.

"This means that it definitely accepts the fait accompli that NATO achieved 22 years ago and the so-called independent state of Kosovo, which the West octroiated, recognized and put pressure on all other countries to do the same. That's why I don't see any possibility of any progress if the West radically fails to apply and respect the legitimate interests of Serbia as a mother country," Jovanovic concluded.
