Kallas: Parties in Kosovo should end political deadlock and form a government

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, stated in her weekly activity report that she had encouraged all parties in Kosovo to end the political deadlock and quickly form a government.
“Leaders need to set aside divisions and prioritize the future of Kosovo,” Kallas wrote on Instagram.
She emphasized that the Western Balkans are of strategic importance to the EU and added that enlargement in this region is the most significant geopolitical project and her personal priority.
Kallas noted that she had completed her visit to the Western Balkans and that during her stay in Serbia, she delivered a clear message.
“My message to the authorities in Belgrade was clear. I want to see Serbia advance toward the EU. For that, political leaders must implement necessary reforms and clarify their strategic orientation. The best way to do this is by restoring trust and remaining committed to democratic principles,” she added.
She also mentioned that she had spoken with engaged members of youth organizations and civil society.
“I heard their call and their aspirations – for justice, for accountability. Their energy is needed to find the way forward,” said Kallas.
Regarding North Macedonia, the senior EU official said it was the first country in the region to join the EU’s Security and Defense Partnership and the first to benefit from the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
Kallas added that North Macedonia belongs in the European family and that it is essential for the country to continue on its path toward EU membership.
