Although the authorities in Pristina claim that Kenya is the 118th country to recognize Kosovo, the actual list is significantly shorter. The document signed today in Nairobi actually makes Kenya the 84th country to recognize Kosovo's independence at this moment.

Data shows that out of 193 United Nations member states, 109 countries do not recognize Kosovo's independence, while 84 countries have recognized it.

Additionally, the two UN observer states – Palestine and the Holy See – do not recognize Kosovo.

Among the countries that do not recognize Kosovo are 28 states that have withdrawn their recognition in the past eight years, as well as three that have frozen their recognition. During this period, only two countries have recognized Kosovo – Barbados and Israel.

Since the South American country Suriname became the first to withdraw its recognition of Kosovo in 2017, others have followed, including Libya, Gabon, Ghana, the Central African Republic, the Maldives, Comoros, Palau, Madagascar, and Vanuatu.

However, some of them, such as Suriname, Libya, Gabon, Ghana, the Central African Republic, Madagascar, Grenada, Palau, and Vanuatu, still appear on the list of recognizing countries on the website of Kosovo's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Egypt is also on Kosovo's Ministry’s list, despite its stance being described by former Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić as "frozen recognition."

Namely, Egypt recognized Kosovo's independence verbally in the final days of Mohamed Morsi's government. However, since 2015, the country has not voted in favor of Kosovo's membership in international organizations.
