KFOR: Adapting to the situation on the ground based on security assessment
The KFOR mission adjusts its presence on the ground based on the assessment of the security situation, the mission stated in a written response to Kosovo Online regarding why their members withdrew from the immediate vicinity of the Municipality of Leposavic building.
"The KFOR mission, led by NATO, has a flexible presence on the ground, which is regularly adjusted based on our assessment of the security situation. This allows us to deal with any challenges that may arise", the KFOR response stated.
They also recall that the mission is fully focused on the daily implementation of its mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 from 1999 – to provide a safe and secure environment for all communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, as the third security response after the Kosovo Police and the EU Rule of Law Mission (EULEX).
This morning, it was noticed that there were no KFOR vehicles in front of or behind the building of the Municipality of Leposavic, in the area where vehicles were stationed until yesterday.
