Kirby: Serbia has started withdrawing its army, a good step contributing to de-escalation

Serbia has begun withdrawing its army deployed on the border with Kosovo, John Kirby, the White House National Security Council spokesman said, describing it as a good step that would contribute to de-escalating the situation.
"Since we clearly stated that we saw the deployment of the Serbian army on the border, we have noticed the withdrawal. This is good. It contributes to de-escalation. It will not completely eliminate tensions, but it will help calm them," he noted.
When asked about the increase in the number of British soldiers in KFOR, he said that some of the NATO peacekeeping troops in Kosovo were also members of the US military.
"I don't think their number will change. There will be no deployment of additional US troops," Kirby emphasized during a regular press conference.
He added that it is evident that Great Britain was in a cycle of assuming leadership in KFOR.
