The President of the Kosovo Parliament, Glauk Konjufca, stated that he does not expect Kosovo to be excluded from the Berlin Process at the upcoming summit on October 14, as this process is not solely focused on CEFTA, reports Reporteri. Konjufca was responding to a warning from Germany’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, who said that Pristina is blocking cooperation and that CEFTA can move forward without Kosovo.

"Sarrazin is flattering Serbia. Kosovo has not been treated equally and will not accept anything other than equal participation with other countries in the region. I don't believe the Berlin Process can be reduced to just CEFTA. The disagreements we have on this issue and the efforts that the Government of Kosovo is making for Kosovo to be represented with dignity in all these regional agreements, I think, are ways to protect Kosovo’s interests. The Berlin Process is much broader, and I do not expect Kosovo to be excluded from it," Konjufca stated.

He added that if a functional region is desired, "the path is clear."

"That path is to equate Kosovo with Serbia as an independent state participating in these regional agreements. If we are invited, we want to participate on an equal footing with Serbia," Konjufca said.

He emphasized that the stance of the Kosovo Government is correct and that it would be much better if Sarrazin focused on other issues, such as the attack in Banjska a year ago and the recent border crossing blockades.

"If you analyze the issue, it would be logical to ask who is investing in terrorist groups and who is receiving direct permission from the Ministry of Internal Affairs to block Kosovo's borders," Konjufca concluded.
