Kosovo Police removed surveillance cameras in Klokot, Partesh, and Ranilug

Kosovo police, in coordination with the prosecutor's office, removed surveillance cameras in the municipalities with a Serb majority population, Klokot, Partesh, and Ranilug near Gjilan.

The spokesman for the police in the Gjilan region, Valon Osmani, confirmed this news for the portal rtv21.tv.

Osmani stated that the cameras had been removed due to the criminal offense of 'photographing and other unauthorized recordings'.

“The Police Regional Directorate of Gjilan, on December 21, 2023, in coordination with the state prosecutor's office, executed the order of the competent court in Gjilan, based on which they confiscated cameras located in public places in the municipalities of Klokot, Partesh, and Ranilug. The seizure was carried out on the reasonable suspicion of committing the criminal offense 'Photographing and other unauthorized recordings' from Article 202 of the Criminal Code of Kosovo, in favor of the Law on the Kosovo Police under number 04/L-076, Article 25, and Law number 06/L-082 for the protection of personal data“, Osmani said.

He said that, regarding this prosecutor's order, a criminal proceeding had been initiated, and the case was with the investigative prosecutor in Gjilan.
