Krasniqi: I believe that extraordinary parliamentary elections will be held by the end of this year, the sooner the better

The President of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, expressed his belief that the extraordinary parliamentary elections in Kosovo would be held in the last months of this year and invited the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to participate in those elections, so that he could check whether the citizens still trust him, Gazeta Express reports.

"I hope it will be as soon as possible, I believe this year. This year, I believe we should go to extraordinary elections. Whether it is December or October, it is relevant, the sooner the better. I believe that no one should be afraid of the elections. If the Government, if Prime Minister Kurti believes that he has done a good job, believes that he has support, we will go to the elections to see if people believe the same. Polls are no longer important, they are irrelevant, the only poll that counts today is the ballot box," Krasniqi said.

Speaking about the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gervalla, Krasniqi said that she was "a disgrace to foreign policy".

"Foreign policy today can only be called politics. We have a Prime Minister who confronted us with the whole world and we have a Minister of Foreign Affairs who is a disgrace to foreign policy," Krasniqi says.

Krasniqi said that Gervalla had insulted the EU as if he was "a representative of Russia or Syria, North Korea or Iran".

Speaking about the situation in the north of Kosovo, Krasniqi said that it was not necessary for the two PDK mayors to resign, but that the situation needed to be de-escalated.

"Now there is no point in submitting resignations, as well as calling new elections, because all that will happen is a repetition of the current situation. What is necessary is a de-escalation of the situation, so that there is no tension, that above all the citizens there, and especially the Albanians, have greater security, which they do not have, that we have some kind of normalization," Krasniqi stated.

He believes that an agreement with Prime Minister Albin Kurti would be ideal or, as he says, "the dissolution of the Assembly".

"The resignation does not solve anything, if we have an agreement with Albin Kurti, for example, which would be ideal, even if we dissolve the Assembly. If there is a new escalation, my coordination will be with the USA and the EU," Krasniqi said.

According to him, PDK will block everything possible in the Assembly because, as he said, the Government and Prime Minister Albin Kurti had led Kosovo far on a completely wrong course, in the direction of confrontation with the main allies.

"In two and a half years, we not only gave them a chance, but we also supported them, we voted for all the international agreements that have passed so far, because Self-Determination could never do it alone. We cannot block all laws, since they have a parliamentary majority, but we can international agreements, we will not participate in any vote, or in commissions, or sessions, we have stopped official communication with both the Prime Minister and the President," Krasniqi said.
