Kurti: Pressure due to the CBK Regulation began after Vucic alarmed the international community

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, says he was not aware that the Central Bank of Kosovo would issue a regulation regarding the ban on the dinar, and that pressure on him began after Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic alerted the international community that such a decision would be catastrophic for Serbs in Kosovo, as reported by Reporteri.

"The Central Bank made this decision on December 28 last year. I had no idea about this decision or the drafting of this regulation. Everything was going smoothly, and without problems in mid-January, immediately after the preparations, Serbian President Vucic warned the region and Europe that a disaster would happen from February 1 when the dinar would be abolished. Then the pressure on me began. We do not exclude the dinar; you can have dinars in Kosovo, but the means of payment is the euro because according to the constitution, only one currency can be in circulation," said Kurti in an interview conducted during his stay in Munich at the Security Conference for radio "Monokl."

He added that the government wants to help the Serbs and that, since the declaration of independence, his government has done the most to assist the Serbian community.

"There has been no government since the declaration of independence that has helped the Serbian community more than us," Kurti said.
