The Kosovo Police arrested another Serb - Zarko Zaric from the village of Ljubozda in the municipality of Istok on suspicion of having allegedly committed war crimes against the civilian population in Kosovo in the period from 1998 to 1999, his defense attorney, lawyer Dejan A Vasic, confirmed for Kosovo Online.

Zaric had been arrested today in his house in the village of Ljubozda, where he had been living as a returnee since 2017, Vasic said.

"Tomorrow, at 10:00 a.m., Zaric will be brought before the judge for the preliminary proceedings of the Basic Court in Pristina, who will decide on the measure of judicial custody. I will visit the detained Zaric during the day," Vasic said.

He reminds that this is the second returnee in the Istok municipality who was arrested and suspected of the same crime.

"Recently, Gavrilo Milosavljevic was also detained under the same suspicions. It is symptomatic that in the last 11 detentions, the suspects were reported on the day of their arrest," Vasic said.

The Kosovo Police previously announced that Z.Z. during the war in Kosovo, in the period from 1998 to 1999, had worked as the Commander of the Police substation in the village of Rakosh in the municipality of Istok.

This is the second arrest in Kosovo for an alleged war crime in Istok, after Momir Pantic was arrested last night at the Merdare crossing, who is charged with command responsibility for the events that took place during the 1999 Kosovo war in that municipality.
