Meta: Kosovo will do everything to delay the implementation of the Association; Kurti gets the most votes in the case of new elections

Albin Kurti would likely receive about the same number of votes as in the previous elections, possibly even more, if elections were to be called soon, political analyst Allen Meta says for Kosovo Online.

When asked if he agrees with some analysts who believe that Kurti will call early elections in Kosovo in the second half of December, after the elections in Serbia, Meta states:

"In my opinion, I don't believe these two things are connected. In general, both governments, in Pristina and Belgrade, are trying as much as possible to postpone the final agreement. Concerning Kosovo, the government is trying to postpone the creation of the Association, but I think its establishment will begin in 2024, and that is not related to the elections in Serbia or any potential elections in Kosovo if they happen. The Kosovo Government will try to delay the formation of the Association as much as possible, but major powers have said what they had to say on this matter, and I don't believe Kosovo will have a choice but to start establishing the Association," Meta says.

Many also believe that Kurti, after the events in Banjska, now enjoys greater support than before, which he could leverage in possible early elections, as Meta notes.

"Based on the latest public opinion polls, the situation is roughly the same as in the previous elections. Even after Banjska, where the majority of Kosovo citizens supported Kurti's government, I think, in the case of elections, if they happen soon, Self-Determination could count on 50 percent of the votes, if not more. If, on the other hand, the formation of the Association begins, there is a possibility that support for Kurti and his party will decline, but generally, I think things will not change, and Self-Determination will remain the strongest political option after the next elections. At this point, Kurti's government will try to maintain a balance and gain the support of other parties, but I don't believe the opposition would like to take over power at this moment, not even PDK or LDK," Meta says.
