Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilovic, met today with KFOR Commander, Major General Özkan Ulutaş, to discuss the security situation in Kosovo. Mojsilovic emphasized that Pristina’s unilateral actions represent the greatest threat to security and requested that KFOR take the necessary measures to protect the Serbian population, particularly during the campaign for the upcoming elections.

Mojsilovic stated that Serbia does not look favorably upon the continuous arming and training of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), assessing these as provocative activities that do not contribute to peace and stability, the Serbian Ministry of Defense said in its press release.

During the meeting, held in Belgrade, the parties also discussed the activities undertaken to monitor the situation on the ground, prevent escalation, and ultimately preserve peace and security in the territory of Kosovo, the Ministry added.

“In the talks, it was noted that the security situation in the Province is extremely sensitive, and that it is therefore important for KFOR to fully act in accordance with its mandate. It was also stressed that it is necessary to continue joint activities and maintain regular contact between the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR at all levels,” the statement said.

Reiterating that the unilateral actions of Pristina’s institutions pose the greatest threat to security, General Mojsilovic requested that the KFOR Commander take the necessary measures to protect the Serbs in Kosovo, in line with the mandate of the International Security Forces as the only legitimate armed formation in Kosovo, especially during the campaign for the upcoming elections.
