Muhaxhiri: Brussels meeting a formality, no concrete results expected
Analyst Artan Muhaxhiri believes that no results can be expected from today's meeting between representatives of Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels because the "context is very negative," adding that it is merely a "formality."
He reminds that the Kosovo Government has stated they would not attend and engage in discussions.
"Considering that the CBK chairman is going there, I'm sure he will say the same things he has already said: that there will be no changes regarding the dinar, so it will be just a formality, nothing special, and without concrete results or success," Muhaxhiri states for Kosovo Online.
Regarding the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, he believes that the only option is to exert additional pressure on Kosovo and Serbia because both the Kosovo Government and the Serbian Government have shown they are unwilling to move forward without pressure from the US and EU.
"So, unfortunately, there will be new pressures and new ways to pressure Kurti and Vucic to make some qualitative steps and progress. Because they show they are very comfortable in this situation, they win – Kurti within Kosovo, Vucic within Serbia, so the problem is that they choose to win locally but lose globally. This is not a promising approach, so there will definitely be a change in approach from the US and EU, as they have invested too much in this dialogue and want results. But with such attitudes and mentalities of Kosovo and Serbia, there will be no successful results," Muhaxhiri concludes.
