Nurellari: Kurti did not want consensus on the president, because that person would not do what he wants

Political scientist Adri Nurellari said that the behavior of the Self-Determination Movement leader Albin Kurti was “theater,” and that he was in fact trying to create the impression that he truly had the will to elect a president by consensus, but with relatively naive offers, in order to shift the blame onto the opposition, A2 CNN reported.

Nurellari said that the crisis had been expected.

According to him, Kurti alone could not elect a president, but it also could not be done without him, because a two-thirds majority of MPs is required.

“If there is political responsibility, it is proportional to political strength. Therefore, whoever has greater strength, greater political weight, undoubtedly has greater responsibility. Especially since it was clearly seen that Kurti’s behavior was actually theater, because he tried to polarize the situation and create the impression that he truly had the will for a president to be elected by consensus, with relatively naive offers that he presented to the public and attempts to distort public opinion and shift the blame onto the opposition, but without concrete, sincere offers,” Nurellari told A2 CNN.

This, he added, is precisely why two main opposition parties refused to meet with him a week ago, because they realized it was a political marketing scenario to shift blame onto the opposition without a concrete offer.

Nurellari is convinced that Kurti simply wanted the deadline of the Constitutional Court to expire and for the position of president to be taken over by an acting official, namely the speaker of parliament.

“Kurti did not want a consensus president, because such a president undoubtedly would not agree to do what he wants. He did not want Vjosa Osmani either, even though she participated in electoral manipulations and adjusted the election date of December 28 to suit Kurti, but instead he needed a compliant political puppet, which he actually found in Albulena Haxhiu, for whom he held 47 sessions last year in order to appoint her as speaker of parliament,” Nurellari said.
