Peric: The pillars of the survival of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija have been preserved

The solution regarding the Law on Foreigners has preserved the pillars of survival of the Serbian people in Kosovo, stated today Prof. Dr. Slobodanka Peric, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Pristina with temporary headquarters in Kosovska Mitrovica.

“This solution for all of us at the University represents a step forward and a way to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of our work—not only for employees in the administrative sector, but above all for students. Without this solution, both the education and healthcare systems would have been brought into question and seriously endangered,” Peric told Kosovo Online.

She emphasized that such a situation would have triggered a domino effect threatening the survival of Serbs in Kosovo.

“This solution has not only postponed but actually removed administrative barriers which, for all of us working in these institutions, would have created numerous administrative, procedural, managerial and legal complications, further hindering our work. Tomorrow we will continue our work and teaching as usual. Pre-exam and examination obligations are ahead. For us and for the students, the most important thing is that we will continue operating within the educational system according to the curriculum and programs of the Republic of Serbia,” Peric underlined.

She pointed out that throughout all these years the University, led by the Rectorate, has remained committed to the survival and preservation of the Serbian educational system.

“In this struggle we are not alone. We have the strong support of our local community, and our state—Serbia—is with us. I will not say behind us, but alongside us in this struggle. We must understand that the University and the healthcare system represent the pillars of the survival of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. They are the umbilical cord that connects us in Kosovo and Metohija with our homeland, Serbia,” Peric said.

She stressed that this is not only a struggle for the educational and healthcare systems, but a struggle for every child.

“Every child who enrolls in primary school, then secondary school, and later the University, and who finds employment in Kosovo and Metohija, represents for us one more family that remains here. And with every family we preserve, we safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia in Kosovo and Metohija,” Peric concluded.
