Petkovic: Atiq and his boss Kurti want to directly threaten people's existence

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, announced that the "false and illegal" mayor Erden Atiq, on the direct order of Albin Kurti, had sent his representatives to the building where the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, the Office of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund Directorate, of the Kosovska Mitrovica Administrative District and the Center for Social Work Vucitrn, in Kosovska Mitrovica, and had given them an ultimatum to move out within three days.

Petkovic pointed out that in this way the existence and right to work for about 40 employees who worked in this building and provided services to the Serbs, Albanians, Bosniaks, Gorani people, and Roma people was directly threatened…

He specified that the institutions located in this building, such as the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, provided services in the field of pension and disability insurance for tens of thousands of beneficiaries of all nationalities, while as many as 120 socially vulnerable families depended on the work of the Center for Social Work department.

"With the ultimatum and the latest move, Atiq and his boss Kurti want to directly threaten the existence of these people and their right to work and receive assistance. We will not allow such a scenario for them, just as we will not allow the existence of dozens of employees and thousands of social assistance beneficiaries who depend on the work of these institutions, that Atiq wants to evict and close, to be threatened," Petkovic said.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said that such "unilateral, illegal and legally wrong moves by the fake mayor", for whom neither the Serbs nor the Albanians voted, led to a new rise in tensions and caused a crisis on the ground and did not go in the direction of any de-escalation, but as he said, direct escalations.

"Kurti, through his forces, is carrying out moves that are a direct threat to peace and stability in these areas, while the international community is silent and silently observes such moves. While we have been listening to international representatives for weeks that illegitimate and fake mayors will not make any executive decisions, every day on the ground we witness the violent and illegal moves of Kurti's Gauleiter against the Serbs, whose only goal is to expel all the Serbs from the north of Kosovo and Metohija," Petkovic concluded.
