Serb List: Illegitimate mayors want to seize our premises too

The Serb List has asked today whether the actions of the mayor of North Mitrovica, Erden Atiq, were in line with the international community's call for Albanian mayors to conduct their duties from alternative locations and to focus solely on administrative tasks.

"We inform the international community that representatives of the illegitimate Kurti's mayor have once again entered the building housing the offices of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, the Directorate of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, the Kosovo-Mitrovica Administrative District, and the Social Welfare Center Vucitrn in the Bosnian Mahala settlement in Kosovska Mitrovica. They informed the employees that they must leave their workplaces and leave the building within three days," the Serb List stated.

The statement further emphasizes that the recommendation of the international community for Albanian mayors to work from alternative locations is not being respected.

"They have gone a step further and wish to seize our premises. In this process, they display their arrogance and exercise of power by disregarding their own laws and regulations and providing documents in the Albanian language. Moreover, we ask international representatives whether this approach respects their call for illegitimate mayors to engage solely in administrative tasks and not make political decisions against the citizens of our municipalities," the Serb List asked.
