Petkovic to Bislimi: Belgrade is determined to normalize relations but will never recognize so-called Kosovo

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, pointed out that the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, wrongly and maliciously interpreted Belgrade's readiness for dialogue with Pristina as Serbia's readiness to recognize Kosovo.

"Belgrade is determined to normalize relations with Pristina and create a stable environment for the entire region's economic development, but it will never recognize Kosovo and its unilateral and illegal act of secession. And it will never agree to the membership of the so-called 'Kosovo' in the UN," Petkovic stated, reacting to Bislimi's statement that "Greece should take notice of the fact that Serbia has committed itself to recognize the independence of Kosovo and change its position."

According to him, Bislimi is "trying to use lies to induce a change in the attitude of the countries that do not recognize Kosovo, trying to trick them and forgetting that those countries are guided primarily by their own interests, not Pristina's interests and dreams."

"Instead of seeking support abroad for Pristina's separatist ambitions, Bislimi should, together with Kurti, devote himself to redefining his chauvinist policy and turn to the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, and if their intentions were any good, it should be their only preoccupation," Petkovic says.

Petkovic claims that Pristina's political leaders no longer have room for empty tirades about democracy and independence because, as he states, even their biggest Western sponsors recognize that they are unreliable and irresponsible people.

"It is a fact that, begging for a shift in the position of certain non-recognizing states, Kurti and Bislimi are abusing the dialogue on normalization of relations not only to further destabilize the region but also to show how malicious and insincere their intentions are," Petkovic concluded in a statement.
