Petkovic: Elections in the north are a continuation of Kurti's violence against Serbs, Western representatives show no concern

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija of the Government of Serbia Petar Petkovic stated that Albin Kurti's meeting with four candidates from the "Self-Determination" movement for mayors in four Serbian municipalities in the north of Kosovo was actually a message that Kurti was sending to Serbs on Easter - that the mayor of northern Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok, and Leposavic will be Albin Kurti, and that his movement "Self-Determination" will rule in northern Kosovo.

Petkovic assessed that Kurti's wish for his candidates to win in undemocratic and anti-Serbian elections and presenting the number 115 that needs to be circled "shows the extent of Kurti's anti-Serbian policy and the program of his party to ethnically cleanse Kosovo of Serbs."

"Everyone can see now how right President Aleksandar Vucic was when he said that with two percent Albanian support in the north, Kurti wants to rule as mayor over 98 percent of the Serbian population who do not want to live in Kurti's false state. Such elections, aimed at nullifying the existence of an absolute majority Serbian population in northern Kosovo, are a continuation of Kurti's terror and violence against Serbs, with the aim of complete occupation of the north," Petkovic stated.

According to him, the international community bears the greatest responsibility in the attempt to politically and in every other way enslave the Serbian people in the north, strongly supporting the violent holding of elections in which Serbs will not vote.

"How will Western representatives explain the fact that purely Serbian communities and municipalities will be led by two percent Albanians who will be the only ones to come out and vote? Is that the supreme democracy they supposedly advocate for? And why didn't all these Western ambassadors and representatives advocate for holding Serbian elections and referendums in Kosovo and Metohija? Why didn't they then complain about democracy and human rights for Serbs that were violated," the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija asked.

He stated that everyone should take a good look at how hypocritical all these Western representatives were, supposedly caring about the regularity of elections in central Serbia, even though they were held to the highest democratic standards and meeting all substantive demands of the opposition. On the other hand, in Kosovo, he believes that those same Western representatives show no concern or responsibility for the electoral violence that Kurti wants to carry out in northern Kosovo.

"It is so obvious that the Serbian people in Kosovo can only rely on the care, responsibility, and every kind of help from President Vucic and Serbia, while everyone else wants to further press and abolish our spirit of freedom. They will not succeed because the state of Serbia will continue to strongly support and take care of its people in Kosovo and Metohija," Petkovic concluded.
