Petkovic: It depends on Kurti whether the normalization will continue; the results are determined by the formation of the CSM
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, assessed that it depended solely on Albin Kurti whether the process of normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina would continue and added that it was clear to all international interlocutors from which side the danger threatened and who created new escalations every day.
Petkovic added that Kurti had been blocking the implementation of previous agreements with his political actions, violence, and terror on the ground for months and insisted that he was doing everything contrary to normalization, so he was daily reaching for the escalation of the political and security situation on the ground.
"The course and results of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina are primarily determined by the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities in the manner agreed in Brussels, for which the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija have been waiting for more than 10 years, but Kurti pretends to be inept and tries in every way to avoid even mentioning that obligations," Petkovic said.
He pointed out that this was why Belgrade would always remind of this and insist on the formation of the CSM because only in this way the Serbs would be able to exercise their collective rights in these areas.
"Serbia is recognized in the international community as a credible partner in building peace and stability in the Western Balkans, which it has proven, among other things, with wise and restrained responses to Kurti's warmongering policy and attempts to subjugate Serbian municipalities in the north of Kosovo and Metohija," Petkovic said.
He assessed that Kurti's wishes for some kind of sanctions against Serbia would end up in accordance with the proverb: whoever digs a pit for another man’s feet, shall fall into it himself.
"It is clear to all international interlocutors, including those who were the strongest political sponsors of Pristina in the past, from which side the danger threatens and who daily creates new escalations that move us away from both normalization and peace," Petkovic pointed out.
