Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated that the refusal of the "false mayors of Kurti" and their presidents of the municipal assemblies to accept requests for dismissal and join the formation of initiative committees for their removal in municipalities in northern Kosovo showed what they had been warning about from the very beginning – that Albin Kurti had no intention of removing his illegitimate and illegal mayors and continued to trample on democracy and the rights of the Serbs.

Petkovic emphasizes that from the moment when the Serbs from the north initiated the dismissal of the "gauleiters", Kurti has used all possible obstacles and tricks to thwart and prevent such a process, as he stated, wanting to continue his policy of terror and institutional violence against the Serbs.

"In this sense, Kurti even brutally violates the regulations he has enacted and, through his appointees, sends awkward notices and rejections, aiming to keep them in power for as long as possible so that they can continue to make anti-Serbian decisions with 3.5% support in the elections", Petkovic emphasized.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija recalls that almost six months have passed since the EU member states unequivocally demanded Kurti to de-escalate the situation in northern Kosovo and take concrete steps towards normalizing relations. One of the main demands, Petkovic emphasizes, is that "his gauleiters must leave their positions", and that the political will of the Serb majority be respected.

"Therefore, I used the visit to Brussels to inform the mediator in the dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, directly about everything and once again point out Kurti's autocratic behavior and his manner of not choosing means in dealing with the Serbs", Petkovic concluded.
