Petkovic: Kurti's police sought to provoke 'another Gazimestan'; International representatives to be informed of latest violations of Serbs' rights

The Director of the Serbian Government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated that members of what he described as "Kurti's police" sought to provoke "another Gazimestan" during today's celebration of the patron saint's day at the Monastery of the Holy Archangels near Prizren, adding that all international representatives would be informed of the latest violations of the rights of Serbs by the authorities in Pristina.

In a post on the social media platform X, Petkovic said that police officers searched even mothers with babies in strollers, women, and young men, while also preventing Serbian-language media outlets from carrying out their work.

"Another act of Kurti's repression is unfolding! We will inform all international representatives about the latest violations of the human, religious, and media rights of Serbs by Pristina, while the Serbian people, through their unprecedented numbers, unity, and peaceful and dignified observance of the monastery's patron saint's day, have delivered the strongest possible response—that unity and faith are stronger than any terror," Petkovic wrote.

Earlier today, the patron saint's day of the Monastery of the Holy Archangels near Prizren was celebrated with a Divine Liturgy and the ceremonial breaking of the slava bread, attended by a large number of worshippers. A heightened presence of the Kosovo Police was visible at the monastery entrance. Metal barriers had been erected, and police officers searched everyone entering the monastery grounds.
