Petkovic with Li Ming: Kurti is the sole source of all problems and instability in Kosovo
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, met today with the new Ambassador of China to Serbia, Li Ming, whom he briefed on the current situation in Kosovo and emphasized Belgrade's commitment to dialogue and its aspirations to maintain peace and stability despite numerous escalatory moves by Pristina.
As stated in the Office for Kosovo and Metohija's press release, Petkovic underscored that "violence and terror by Albin Kurti against the Serbs in northern Kosovo and Metohija have become a daily occurrence, with the evident aim of expelling the Serbs".
"Belgrade has drawn the attention of the international community to this on numerous occasions, warning of possible consequences and escalation on the ground, which unfortunately occurred on September 24. The sole source of all problems and instability in Kosovo and Metohija is Albin Kurti with his policy of provocations, unilateral actions, arbitrary arrests of our compatriots, and the illegitimate actions of his Special Forces, which has no business in the north according to any agreement," Petkovic stated.
He warned that the situation on the ground was more than serious and that it is essential to de-escalate as soon as possible by having Kosovo Police officers withdraw from northern Kosovo, with KFOR taking full responsibility for the protection of the Serbs in these areas.
"It is necessary for both sides to return to dialogue as soon as possible and to immediately establish the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, which would be the guarantor of the collective and individual rights of the Serbs, as envisaged by the Brussels Agreement, which the Pristina authorities have prevented for more than ten years," Petkovic added.
Petkovic welcomed the Ambassador and wished him a pleasant stay in Serbia while expressing gratitude for China's steadfast support for Serbia in its struggle to protect its state and national interests in Kosovo. He emphasized that Serbia would remain an equally reliable friend and partner to China, nurturing the strong friendship between the Serbs and Chinese people.
