Petkovic: As a peacekeeper, Vucic is the target of Kurti's and Osmani's attacks

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, as a sincere and consistent guardian of the region's stability, is naturally an obsessive target for the attacks of Albin Kurti's "warmongering regime", and Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani is trying to sell to the insufficiently informed Western public a fairy tales about Serbia being a threat, the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic said.

As stated in the Office for Kosovo and Metohija statement, Petkovic reacted to Osmani's statement to the Italian media "Corriere della Sera".

"Pristina is most afraid of peace because, in peace, the tolerance melts for Kurti's politics of destroying dialogue and trying to find a diplomatic and compromise solution to the problems in Kosovo and Metohija. Vjosa Osmani can try to sell fairy tales about Serbs being a threat to the insufficiently informed Western public, however, in political and diplomatic circles, it is very well recognized who is trying to re-ignite the "Balkan powder keg", Petkovic said.

Petkovic added that it was a shameless lie that the President of Serbia and the Serbs in Kosovo destabilized the situation on the ground in any way because, as he stated, the facts said exactly the opposite.

"The only threat to peace is the extremists who, inspired by Kurti's chauvinistic politics, attack and intimidate the Serbian people almost daily. Since the beginning of the year, there have been ten attacks on Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, including attacks with firearms on children and bare-handed civilians, which completely exposes Vjosa Osmani's lies about the alleged reduction in the number of ethnically motivated incidents," Petkovic said.

According to him, the truth is that there is an explosion of violence in Kosovo that has not been seen in years.

"This testifies to Pristina's panicked need to drag Serbia into conflicts with NATO so that it would have an excuse to continue not fulfilling the Brussels Agreement's obligations. Albin Kurti and his advocates like Vjosa Osmani are even ready to provoke conflicts on a wider scale just to avoid having to fulfill their obligations regarding the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities establishment, but Kurti's politics' aggressive and warlike nature cannot be camouflaged by disinformation and baseless attacks on Serbia and its president," Petkovic concluded.
