Today we are witnessing attempts to brutally revise history so that the descendants of those responsible for the most horrific crimes can whitewash their ancestors' biographies, stated Petar Petkovic, Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, in response to the speech by the German ambassador in Pristina, Jörn Rohde, during the commemoration of 80 years since the end of World War II.

"It is no coincidence that it is said: he who controls the past controls the future. Today, we are witnessing brutal attempts to revise history in order to allow the descendants of those responsible for the gravest crimes and atrocities to cleanse their ancestors' biographies. Part of this insidious plan is to use false narratives to portray those who defeated evil as criminals," wrote Petkovic on Instagram.

According to him, in his attack on Serbia and its president, Ambassador Rohde is precisely trying to do that — to turn history upside down.

"It is symbolic that this attempt is made from the position of an ally of the followers of Xhafer Deva and the guardians of the legacy of the Ballist movement and the infamous SS Skanderbeg division. Serbia remembers that it has always been on the right side of history and proudly marks the holiday of victory over fascism and Nazism, because the Serbian people have always been, and remain, a nation that loves justice and freedom. We made a significant contribution to the defeat of the ideologies of evil in World War II and paid a tremendous price," he added.

Petković writes that Victory Day is commemorated together with those who, like Serbia, remember where the evil of Nazism and fascism originated and who delivered the decisive blow.

"Truth cannot be defeated by political platitudes and lies, no matter how often they are repeated, as long as there are those willing to remember and not allow the truth to be forgotten. That is why President Vucic is in Moscow today — something Rohde will never understand," he concluded.
