Prattipati: Kurti’s statements weaken institutions and worsen interethnic tensions

The Charge d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati, expressed disappointment over recent statements by Kosovo’s caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti, stressing that such actions undermine the political process, weaken Kosovo’s institutions, and worsen interethnic tensions, Koha reported.

Prattipati emphasized that Kurti’s statements have increased instability and insecurity in Kosovo.

“We are disappointed by the recent actions and statements of Acting Prime Minister Kurti, which have increased instability and insecurity in Kosovo. These actions undermine the political process, weaken Kosovo’s institutions, and worsen interethnic tensions,” Prattipati stressed in a response to Koha.

She also stated that any action that weakens political and economic stability poses a challenge to the Kosovo–US partnership.

“We are carefully considering our response, but let me be clear: any action that weakens political and economic stability represents a serious challenge to our partnership,” Prattipati said.

A few days ago, following a session of the Self-Determination Movement’s General Council, Kurti called the Constitutional Court a “political shadow of the opposition,” dissatisfied with the court’s decision to impose a temporary measure prohibiting members of parliament until September 30 from undertaking actions or any procedures to form a new government.
