Prefabricated branches of the Postal Savings Bank have been set up near Jarinje, Brnjak, Konculj, and Merdare
During the weekend, the Postal Savings Bank installed four temporary branches in the immediate vicinity of the crossings at Jarinje, Brnjak, Konculj, and Merdare (in central Serbia) to ensure continuity in cash withdrawals for its clients from Kosovo. This initiative also aimed to provide closer access to cashiers, ATMs, and other banking services, as announced by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
These prefabricated branches were installed at the closest possible locations to the crossings, given that such a technical solution was the only feasible option under the circumstances. They will be available to citizens every working day and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm.
According to the statement, the Postal Savings Bank took this step due to unilateral and unlawful actions by Albin Kurti, who banned the use of the Serbian dinar and Serbia's payment system in Kosovo on February 1 this year.
"The Serbs are prevented from withdrawing their salaries, pensions, social benefits, and all other payments provided by the state of Serbia in their home branches in the province, which are essential for their lives and work. In the past month, the entry of dinar currency into Kosovo and Metohija has been banned twice by Pristina, causing the Serbs to travel even hundreds of kilometers to the nearest branches in central Serbia due to dinar shortages, spending significant amounts on travel, being absent from work, and facing numerous other problems," the statement said.
The clients of the Postal Savings Bank are informed that they can perform all banking transactions in the newly formed branches, including salary and pension withdrawals, social assistance payments, deposits to dinar and foreign currency accounts, currency exchange, account authorizations, and other banking transactions that are regularly conducted in all other bank branches.
Each prefabricated branch will always have two bank employees available for assistance.
Each facility is equipped with a Postal Savings Bank ATM, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing clients to withdraw funds from their dinar accounts.
The bank has also sent two mobile branches on wheels to support citizens, which will be available at these locations according to the citizens' needs.
"The Serbs affected by these anti-Serb measures of Kurti will no longer have to travel to branches in Raska, Novi Pazar, Kursumlija, Vranje... to withdraw their earnings, but will be able to perform all their transactions in the immediate vicinity of the administrative crossings," it is stated.
Existing branches of the Postal Savings Bank located in northern Kosovo remain operational.
By setting up branches near the administrative crossings, in the existing difficult conditions for the Serbs in Kosovo, access to dinar withdrawals has been somewhat facilitated, at least in logistical terms.
Of course, this technical solution is only temporary until the normal functioning of payment transactions in Serbian communities in Kosovo is restored.
"Belgrade insists firmly and continuously seeks to find a sustainable solution regarding the resumption of the Republic of Serbia's payment transactions in Kosovo and Metohija, in order to urgently solve this existential problem affecting 100,000 Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija," the statement concludes.
